Questions about Misenly

How saving recipes, the shopping list and Instacart work.

How do I save a recipe?

Paste a link, search, paste the recipe text, or type it in by hand. Pasted text is saved in full and you can edit every field.

What happens to a recipe I import?

A pasted link or a search result keeps just the link, name and image. Its ingredients and steps are fetched fresh each time you open it, so you always see the current version. Recipes you paste or type in are saved in full.

How does the shopping list work?

Every ingredient from your saved recipes shows up once, grouped by aisle. Mark something "In pantry" and it moves out of the list. No more buying three jars of cumin.

What does Instacart see?

Only the items on your shopping list, nothing else about your account. Prices and totals are shown on Instacart, not here, and Misenly may earn a commission on qualifying orders.

How do allergens work?

We flag ingredient matches we can find against the allergens you've set. Never a "safe" badge. Recipes without an ingredient list say so instead of guessing.

Can I take my recipes with me?

Yes. Settings → Your data → Download my recipes gives you one JSON file with your Recipe box, filters, lists and settings. It is yours to keep.

How do I delete my data?

Go to Settings → Delete account and type DELETE. Your account and everything in it is removed on the spot.

Is Misenly free?

Free for saving recipes and shopping. No card needed.
